Avila Beach Hotel Extension
|
The Avila Hotel lies on the south coast of Curaçao. At the beginning of the 19th century, the existing historical portion of the hotel was the governor’s country mansion. In 1949 it was converted into a hotel and soon became very popular, attracting a large number of loyal guests. The hotel was extended several times to draw a broader public, not wanting to become too large, but still maintaining a certain luxury. The scale of this contemporary extension is in keeping with other buildings along the coastline. The new lobby provides a link between the old historical part of the building and the new development. This new construction is modern with tropical elements, such as the use of wood, fresh colors, the many roof projections and canvas awnings. The rooms are furnished with every kind of contemporary amenity. |
